SGGS Members Day 2023
The Sarawak Geriatric and Gerontology Society (SGGS) held their Members Day at the CSSC in Kuching recently. The event was attended by over 100 members of the society, as well as representatives from government agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that work with the elderly.
The day’s activities included a keynote address by Dr. Lim Siew Lian, a geriatrician from the Sarawak General Hospital. Dr. Lim spoke about the importance of healthy aging and how to age gracefully. She also discussed the challenges that the elderly face, such as chronic diseases, social isolation, and financial insecurity.
In addition to the keynote address, there were also several other presentations and workshops. These included a workshop on how to use technology to stay connected with friends and family, a presentation on financial planning for the elderly, and a discussion on the importance of exercise and nutrition for healthy aging.
The Members Day was a great opportunity for SGGS members to learn more about healthy aging and to network with other people who are interested in the issues facing the elderly. It was also a chance for SGGS to raise awareness of the importance of aging well and to advocate for the needs of the elderly in Sarawak.
